Achievements of the cmtf Together, the CMTF has created the following Interagency materials: CP Minimum Standard (#15) on Case Management Inter-agency Guidelines for Case Management & Child Protection Child protection Cases Management, Training Manual for caseworkers, supervisors and managers *These resources are available in English, French, Arabic and Spanish CM Guidelines: Definition of case management, Guiding principles (do no harm, promoting the child’s best interest) How to establish or strengthen case management services. CM steps: Identification & registration, needs assessment, development of an individual case plan, case plan implementation through direct support and referral services, follow-up & review, case closure. Appendices: suggest various tools and sample forms for reference; for instance, caseworker competencies, skills and roles of caseworkers or supervisors, a child protection policy, registration and assessment forms. Interagency Case Management TOT’s Two Training of Trainers (ToT) were facilitated, one in English in December 2013 in Uganda and one in French in May 2014 in Ivory Coast. A total of 46 participants attended these ToTs Agencies represented: Save the Children, Terre des Hommes, the IRC, World Vision, War Child, CESVI, UNICEF, UNHCR, Childline, Plan International, the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, JRS, Le Monde des Enfants, the Government of Zimbabwe, the government of Burundi and CARE. INVITATION Case Management Coaching and Supervision Building upon the successes of the Interagency Guidelines and Case Management training manual, the CMTF is offering an intensive capacity building initiative on Case Management Coaching and Supervision

purpose Global: To develop a cadre of CP actors with enhanced understanding and commitment to CM supervision and coaching best practices. Country- Level: To increase case management supervisors’ confidence, capacity and support to caseworkers to provide safe, ethical and competent case management services to vulnerable children and their families

Overview Adjusting our approach to global capacity building in order to promote interagency roll-outs at country level and improve sustainability: Country-level CPWG or CP sub-clusters are invited to submit an application to the CMTF   9 countries will be selected to join the capacity building initiative through an application process. There will be 3 Coaching/ Supervision trainings involving 3 country teams at each Coaching and Supervision Training 3 Country 7 Country 8 Country 9 Coaching and Supervision Training 1 Country 1 Country 2 Country 3 Coaching and Supervision Training 2 Country 4 Country 5 Country 6 We are hoping to have 2 English trainings and 1 French training

Country Capacity building Team With each country CPWG/Sub-Cluster application, a Capacity Building Team should also be nominated 5 or 6 participants (and 2 alternates) who will engage fully in the training Program. Please consider having a diversity of agencies (government, national and international agencies and UN) and broad geographical coverage in the suggested team. The suggested profile of the nominated members of capacity building team is outlined is below: Experience in leading case management programming Ability to lead training and coach case management teams Previous experience in direct supervision of caseworkers Fluency in English or French Each nominated participant should submit an application, a copy of their CV and commitment statement as an appendix to the country application We encourage national staff to be prioritized!

Phases of training Significant commitment is required from participants that will include three phases in the course of approximately 6 months beginning in August 2017 including: Capacity Building Phase  Description of Content August Part I: Pre-Course work (8 hours; participants can take this at their own pace over the course of 1 month) Core Case Management concepts and knowledge with a particular focus on: Interagency CM Guidelines Role of supervision and coaching in CM programming Fall Part II: In-person training (5 days) Methods of Supervision Individual Supervision approach and skills Group Supervision approach and skills Tools for coaching and supervision Self-care for CM teams Capacity building team work on planning capacity building Winter Part III: Country- level roll-out and Training Follow-up (3 months) Monthly Skype calls to support the roll-out of training and coaching Delivery of one Coaching/ Supervision training in country Implement action plan developed with country-team Training report(s) Final evaluation survey

Responsibilities of global CMTF Development of the technical content of the Coaching/ Supervision package and training materials Selection of countries to participate in regional trainings Pre-training course work will be made accessible to participants 1 month in advance for each training  Accommodation and per-diem for all participants in the 5-day Coaching/ Supervision training Post-training technical support to participants   Monitoring and analysis of the capacity building initiative  

Responsibilities of Country Response Funding travel of participants to the in-person trainings Country CM capacity building teams will be responsible for developing, delivering and funding country-level CM Coaching/ Supervision trainings within the 3 months following the regional training. Plans will be tailored by the team for their context, and the facilitators will be responsible for following-up with the team to support the training process. Country CM capacity building teams will also be responsible for providing on- going coaching to CM supervisors in their country programs Country CM capacity building team will involved in structured feedback systems to continue to draw lessons learned and the impact of trainings and coaching.
