STANDARD DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS Earn 24 credits English – 4 credits Mathematics – 4 credits (Algebra EOC 30%, Geometry EOC 30%) Science – 3 credits (Biology EOC 30%) Social Studies – 3 credits (World History, US History EOC 30%, US Government & Economics) Fine Arts and Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts – 1 credit Physical Education – 1 credit (HOPE) Electives – 8 credits Virtual Course (HOPe & DIT at nease meet this requirement) Cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale State Assessment Requirements Must pass required 10th grade FSA ELA Must pass Algebra 1 EOC Must take the eoc for Biology, geometry & us history (unless taking ap or de)

DIPLOMA DESIGNATIONS SCHOLAR MERIT ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD DIPLOMA PLUS Math: Earn one credit in Algebra 2 and one credit in STATISTICS OR EQUALLY RIGOROUS COURSE Science: MUST PASS BIOLOGY EOC; earn one credit in chemistry or physics; and earn one credit in equally rigorous science course. Social Studies: MUST PASS US HISTORY EOC 2 CREDITS IN THE SAME FOREIGN LANGUAGE MUST EARN ONE credit in AP, IB, AICE, OR DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSE. ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD DIPLOMA PLUS STUDENT earns ONE OR MORE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONs

Scheduling options 9th grade – 2 options 7 classes at nease in traditional classroom or virtual lab Blend of 7 classes at nease & virtual courses at home 10th grade – 3 options (same as 9th plus) Collegiate high school through st johns river 11th grade – 4 options (same as 9th plus) 5 or 6 classes at Nease with 1 or 2 periods of co-op (work program) Blend of classes at nease and dual enrollment at st johns river 12th grade – 6 options (same as 9th plus) 4 to 6 classes at nease with 1 to 3 periods of co-op (work program) Modified schedule – only 4, 5 or 6 courses at nease Full-time dual enrollment student at st johns river

COURSE SELECTION TEACHERS RECOMMEND ACADEMIC COURSES FOR HIGH SCHOOL USING DISTRICT GUIDELINES THAT INCLUDE: STUDENT GRADES, FSA SCORES AND EOC SCORES. PARENTS/GUARDIANS WILL BE ABLE TO REVIEW THE ACADEMIC COURSE RECOMMENDATIONS AND ALSO HELP THEIR CHILD CHOOSE THEIR ELECTIVE COURSES. CHANGES CAN BE MADE TO COURSE RECOMMENDATIONS

District HONORS CRITERIA Grades ‐ A grade of C or better in the previous honors course. Students earning a grade of A in the previous standard course may be recommended for honors course placement. FSA ‐ Level 4 or 5 in appropriate area and not less than a Level 3 in any area

Dropping an ap or honors course Courses can Only be dropped at the semester IF… Student has a “d” or an “f” Student Has consistently attended help sessions (EXCEL TIME) Parent and student have had a conference each quarter with the teacher There must be a seat available in the desired course.

In high school only a grade of “d” or “F” can be replaced. If there is a course that needs to be repeated, please add to the student verification request. Grade Forgiveness

Intensive reading Intensive reading will not be offered as a stand alone course for students scoring a level 1 or 2 on fsa Ela. Reading support will be provided through content courses. 9th – world history 10th – biology 11th – English 3 and us history

REGISTRATION HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS WILL visit ENGLISH CLASSES TO HELP ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS AND REVIEW THE ACADEMIC/ELECTIVE/ACADEMY COURSE SELECTIONS. students WILL GET TO SELECT their ELECTIVES. they WILL CHOOSE BETWEEN 4 AND 6 ELECTIVES AND RANK their PREFERENCE. CHOOSE ACADEMICS AND ELECTIVES CAREFULLY -THESE COURSE CHOICES ARE USED TO BUILD THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AND TEACHER SCHEDULES–WITH STATE MANDATED CLASS SIZE RESTRICTIONS you are making a year-long commitment to these courses. We cannot accept requests for changes after Friday, June 29th 2018.
