Middle Years Program Summer Camp 2015

Program offers a Continuum of International Education

Learner Profile At the heart of the IB Programme is the The IB programme aims to help students develop as lifelong learners in the context of the Learner Profile.

The Programme Model Students in middle school follow a 4X4 block schedule alternating between even periods one day 2, 4, 6, 8 and odd periods 1, 3, 5, 7 the following day. They will have the opportunity to earn High School credits in math, science, and language B.

Requirements for participation within the IB program at our school: Must maintain satisfactory grades in all courses. C's are a “red flag.” Submit ALL Reflections (one for each class, every semester) and Technology Logs (one per semester) on TIME! Comply with Academic Honesty Contract. No issues with Conduct. Does not have a record of frequent detentions or CSI.

Community and Service Expand focus beyond the classroom Develop responsibility & caring participation in the local & global community 10 hours for 6th and 7th Grade 20 hours for 8th Grade Requirement for IB @ Curry Community and Service starts in the classroom and then extends beyond. Emphasis is on developing community awareness, a sense of responsibility, and the skills needed to make an effective contribution to society.

How can parents help? Make sure your child is attending school regularly and on time Monitor his/her progress through the student agenda & Parent Portal. Ensure that he/she meet the expectations of the Parent/Student Honor Code. Read, watch or listen to national and international news and discuss their impact. Ask your child open-ended questions to allow them to define and express their opinions. Encourage and assist your child in becoming more involved in community service and school activities.
