Proficiency Stickers:   Each season all students are required to attend a skill review on their first trip to Crystal Mountain. Our Snowsports pros will evaluate each student’s skills and issue them a “proficiency sticker” for their pass or lift ticket. Code of Conduct and Behavior: Be Respectful, and Courteous to other skiers and snowboarders, Ski Patrol and Crystal Mountain employees. Have Fun, but be aware of your space and surroundings. Loud and rude behavior or inappropriate language will not be tolerated. Respect Crystal Mountain equipment and property. Mistreatment of Crystal Mountain rental gear will result in loss of pass and privileges. Recycle. Pick up after yourself. Do not Litter. Ski at the level of your sticker, straight running and out of control behavior is prohibited. Any activity that places yourself or others at excessive risk will be deemed out of control and will result in a loss of your pass and privileges. Any Crystal Mountain Representative or School Program advisor is granted the right to enforce these rules.

KNOW THE CODE. IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Your Responsibility Code: Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely. KNOW THE CODE. IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Lost or Forgotten Pass Procedures: Passes are non-transferrable, and a fee applies for reprinting lost passes. Fraudulent use of passes will result in prosecution. If a student forgets his/her pass, they must be accompanied by the advisor to the ticket counter where they will be charged single trip lift access rates.

Crystal Kids Gear Up Program: Make sure your young skiers & boarders always have the right fit in equipment! Equipment that fits and performs properly is very important, particularly for skiers and snowboarders that are learning their sport. Crystal Mountain has created the Crystal Kids Gear Up Program, a ski/snowboard equipment trade-in/trade-up program that helps parents ensure that their child has proper-fitting equipment each season without spending an arm and a leg. To enroll in the program, bring your child to the Mountain Sports Shop, located slopeside within The Lodge at Crystal Mountain, and have them professionally fitted for equipment. Purchase a snowboard or skis and bindings, or skis, boots & bindings for your child at retail price. Then, bring the equipment back at the beginning of the following season, along with the sales receipt, for a credit voucher good toward your child’s new gear. If the equipment is returned in good shape after one winter season, you’ll receive a voucher equal to 80% off the original price. After two seasons, you’ll receive a credit voucher equal to 50% off the original price. For more information about the Crystal Kids Gear Up program, please contact Mountain Sports at 888.968.7686 ext. 4400.

What to Wear: Dress in layers. Layering allows you to accommodate your body's constantly changing temperature. Only one pair of wool or synthetic ski socks. Avoid ribbed or cotton socks Wear Snowpants; Jeans get cold and wet. Wear Thermal Underwear. Turtlenecks and/or Neck Gators make a huge difference in your warmth. Mittens are great for cold nights. Wear a helmet while on the slopes, (or at minimum a hat): 60 percent of heat-loss is through the head. Wear moisturizing sun protection when coming during the day. The sun reflects off the snow and is stronger than you think, even on cloudy days! Always wear eye protection. Have sunglasses and goggles with you.

Snow Days: (Hooray!) If school is closed due to snow, School Program participants may come to Crystal Mountain before 3:30pm and enjoy a day on the slopes! If school closure is on your group’s regularly scheduled day, School Program pass holders pay no additional charge. Those with School Program passes for other days of the week pay Single Trip rates. An adult or chaperone must be present. Participants must get a “Snow Day” lift ticket- available from the School Program desk at the Ticket Counter.
