Today we will dramatize how the U. S Today we will dramatize how the U.S. Constitution reflects the principles of popular sovereignty, limited government, separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism, republicanism, and individual rights using human living statues.

To adapt for a theatrical presentation… dramatize To adapt for a theatrical presentation…

preamble Article I Article IV How the constitution reflects popular sovereignty, limited government, separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism, republicanism, and individual rights. Bill of Rights

Using living statues…

The good news… This is your performance task for this unit Test grade Wraps up Unit IV And this is your chance to show your stuff…to show you understand using YOURSELF!

The bad news… No words No props No make up nor make ups (lol) No costumes Just your groups’ bodies and expressions

Your task Is to create a living statue/pose that reflects the meaning and application of the principle you draw Your group’s pose MUST include all members of your group: each individual member’s pose must play a vital role in the overall group pose Your group’s pose MUST be an accurate representation of the principle

Because every picture … every pose tells a powerful story!

Individual Rubric – 40 Points Personal Extension of Performance Accurate and enthusiastic extension of personal part Reflection of theme but not 100 percent enthusiasm Little reflection or enthusiasm in part played Time Management Maximum use of time Average use of time Little use of time Contribution to group Ideas and poses offered At least 1 idea and pose suggested No contribution to group Cooperation with group Consistently works well with others Sometimes works well with others Difficulty in working with others

Group Rubric – 60 Points 17-20 points 12-17 -points 0-12 points Actual performance Ready, vibrant, self-directed Ready, mostly energetic, some direction needed Not ready, lacks energy, no direction Accuracy and understanding of theme Pose totally reflects principle and knowledge of principle, factual Pose shows accuracy and understanding with some blurs Lacks true under-standing and/or accuracy of principle Group Collaboration Works together to present cohesive theme Mostly works together to present pose in best light Lots of arguing and pose suffers as result

How to begin – 20 minutes Draw a principle from one of your teachers Brainstorm in your group Discuss ideas Practice poses to see which works Present – You must be ready when called

Remember previous symbols Use your matrixes in your spiral to help Think of symbols that represent your principle Then decide whether you can act that symbol out…

Good Luck Remember timing 20 minutes to plan 20 minutes for all groups to present
