Presentation transcript:

Ecoregions in Texas https://www. youtube. com/watch Defined by: weathering, erosion, deposition forming a variety of landforms (such as beaches, plateaus, mountains and canyons) and soil types (fertile, clay rich, sandy) The combination of topography, soil and climatic conditions have formed 10 different regions in Texas

Landforms: beaches

Plateaus

Mountains

Canyons

Water is an agent of weathering and erosion The precipitation trend goes from wet to dry when moving from the east part of Texas to the west part. So eastern ecoregions will have more signs of water erosion/deposition than western ecoregions.

The temperatures can affect the type of vegetation

WEATHERING The breaking down of rock by physical or chemical means: wind, ice, plants, water, gravity, oxygen, carbon dioxide, other rock particles, animals.

EROSION The movement of rock particles by wind, water, ice or gravity

DEPOSITION The dropping of sediment

10 Ecoregions of Texas

Each Ecoregion is unique in: Amount of precipitation Soil Vegetation Elevation Topographic features Agents of weathering and erosion

Now you are ready to begin the Texas Ecoregion Project
