Abba ABBA are a music group originally from Sweden. They started in 1972. They were called ABBA because they took the first letter in each members name and put it together to make ABBA. They entered the eurovision in 1974 and came 1st. They broke up in 1982.

Queen Queen are a british pop band formed in London in 1970. Things were going great for Queen but then at a concert that they were performing, Brian May suddenly collapsed on stage. Queen still perform famous songs even after the sad death of Freddie Mercury, lead singer. They performed "Somebody to love" in 1976 and "Don't Stop Me Now" in 1979. They were number "1" for 24 weeks!

Miners Strike The 1972 miners strike happened on the 9th of February.

British Commonwealth Games The 1970s Commonwealth games were held in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh and they were from 16th July to 25th July 1970. They occur every 4 years just like the Olympics. The Commonwealth games are a mixture of sports and the competitors are from the commonwealth nation.

A 1970 Disaster! In 1973, it rained so much a river burst its banks. So many people were killed those weeks the flooding was around. 1253 casualties. loads of houses were washed away too, including a mansion, a 7 story building and a harbour.
