Stonehenge is perhaps the most famous prehistoric monument in the world. It’s in the English county of Wiltshire.

The Stonehenge that we see today is the final stage that was completed about 3500 years ago.

Stonehenge was constructed in three phases. It has been estimated that the three phases of the construction required more than thirty million hours of labour.

The original number of stones in the bluestone circle was probably around 60, some have been removed or broken up. And some others remain only as stumps below ground level.

Neither the druids nor the Celts built Stonehenge Neither the druids nor the Celts built Stonehenge. Stonehenge was built long before the Celts arrived in Britain. But the traditional meeting place of the Druids could have been Stonehenge.

Stonehenge is also known as the 'Giant's Dance' and the stones thought to be erected by Devil.

People continue to wonder just why Stonehenge was built as a giant astronomical observatory. In truth, it's fair to say that we're as much in the dark as we've always been.
