Characterization of Marlin Finding Nemo

Analysis Marlin is over protective. Has a lot of scenes where he is frowning. He is the way he is due to the tragedy at the beginning. Coral seemed to be the strength and positive attitude for Marlin.

Analysis Cont. Marlin tries to mix in with the crowd but the crowd doesn’t like him. Marlin is over defensive because he never really left his “house” that much. Loves Nemo dearly because that’s all he has.

Analysis Cont. After Coral is gone things seem to get more gloomy, even the picture. Right when Marlin thinks he has Nemo but doesn’t it isn’t gloomy.

Foil Character Is a character who contrasts with another character in order to highlight particular qualities of the other character. Foil character for Marlin was Nemo. Nemo showed us how protective Marlin was. Ex. When Nemo leaves the anemone to go to school.

Dynamic Character Dramatic character who undergoes an important inner change, as a change in personality or attitude. Marlin is a dynamic character. At first he had some emotion baggage. At the end he was more carefree.

Dynamic Char. Cont. Dory helps Marlin under go this change. Learns to put the past behind him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWXOurnVTYg
