VOCABULARY SPOTLIGHT 25 MINUTES Instructions: Using your devices, access the class website. Go to Resources>Freshman Vocabulary. Honors: Open the “Voc Matrix Honors” PDF. Select and complete one of the 12 activities listed. You may use any words from Unit 1, 2, or 3 (1-15) Academic: Open the “Academic Enrichment Assignment” PDF. Complete this activity using any words from Unit 1, 2, or 3 (1-15). THIS WILL BE COLLECTED! Vocabulary Enrichment!

Saf: Claim, Data, Warrant, Conclusion 20 MINUTES Saf: Claim, Data, Warrant, Conclusion What does it mean to be courageous? Harper Lee gives us several examples of courage in chapters 9-11. In a four to five sentence response, state your opinion and offer specific support from at least one of these chapters. If you don’t remember how to write an SAF response, check the SAF file on the Resources page of the class website.

Peer Review 20 MINUTES Exchange papers with someone who will challenge you to do your best! Peer reviewers should read and evaluate the SAF response according to the questions below. Write the number followed by your evaluation directly on the author’s paper. Include your name. Examine the claim. Does it state an opinion that needs to be proven? Examine the data. Has the author offered an effective quote or paraphrased information, including chapter and page numbers, that supports his or her claim? Examine the warrant. Does the warrant explain how the data proves the author’s claim? Examine the conclusion. Does the conclusion restate the claim or offer an inspirational thought related to the claim? Return your paper to the author. Authors should rewrite SAF responses below the reviewer comments. DO NOT erase your original SAF!
