Liquid Analysis Systems System Capabilities Complete, turn-key systems for unattended operation Multi-tank and multi-chemistry analysis Replenishment with flow monitoring Single operator interface for process status, alarms, reports Analysis methods include titration, colorimetric analysis, and pH measurement. Auto calibration and standardization are offered as well. Single and multiple process tanks or streams can be analyzed and controlled. Single or multiple parameters can be analyzed. Analysis and control methods are configurable through settings, recipes, and supervisory software.

Analytical Methods Analytical methods are preconfigured using flexible recipes & tables Auto analysis with: Titration pH Colorimetry Spectroscopy The L450 series primarily uses titration based analyses. This means it can emulate the same analytical procedures proven in house, but does so with excellent consistency and availability. The L450 can analyze single or multiple processes and parameters. To ensure the continued value of your investment, if the process control requirement changes, this is often accommodated by a change in the software configuration. In these cases this service can be performed by the distributor or by LAS, even online. 9

Process and Analyte Examples Process Examples Chemical Processing, Cleaning, Metal Finishing, Sanitizing, Water Treatment Analyte Examples Cations – Al3+, Ag+, B3+, Cr6+, Cu2+, Fe2+, H+, NH4+ K+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Sn2+, Zn2+ Anions – Cl-, CN-, Br-, F-, OH-, NO3-, PO43-, SO42-, SO32-, S2O32- Other – pH, H2O2, EDTA, HCl, HNO3, H2SO4 These are examples and not a complete list, as the number of processes and parameters that can be measured is vast. Inquire if there is something needed but not listed.

Operator Interface Option Central interface for process oversight Parameter histories, alarms and settings Basic settings for analysis schedules, calculations, titrations, etc. are set at the analyzer keypad, and do not require a PC. Optional software is licensed for installation on a customer PC. Its supervisory windows display process line chemistry status at a glance, and allow “drilling down” for detailed process history, analysis scheduling, replenishment control, and process limit settings. Although analyses come pre-programmed in the analyzers, other displays (not shown) allow menu-driven configuration, monitoring, and step-by-step control of analysis recipes.

L300 Series Analyzers Automated colorimetric wastewater analysis Auto sampling from loop Touch display for status, history, and alarms Settable analysis intervals, process ranges, & targets SD card data storage The L300 series can provides colorimetric analyses. It automates the same analytical procedures proven on the lab bench, but does so with speed and consistency. Auto fast loop sampling, analysis, and cleaning are included.

L400 Series Analyzers Auto-sampling, analysis, and cleanup Keypad and display for viewing process status, history, and alarms Settable analysis intervals, process ranges, and targets The L400 series can provide titrametric or pH analyses. This means it can emulate the same analytical procedures proven in house, but does so with excellent consistency and availability. Auto sampling, analysis, and cleaning are included. A single L400 can analyze several processes and parameters. Keypad and PC displays are offered for viewing process status, history and alarms. Analyzer front view (alkalinity analyzer model is shown – other models available).

L500 Series Analyzers Full process line analysis HMI, process status, and history displays. Integrated replenishment systems The L500 series analyzer adds capacity for both number of analytes and processes and adds colorimetric and sample conditioning capabilities. Replenishment systems can be integrated as well. As with the L400 series, settings and displays are offered through keypad and PC displays.

L400/500 Titration Cell Mini titration cell conserves sample and reagents Titration sensors include pH, ORP, ISE, color, & turbidity Heating: optional The mini titration cell conserves sample and reagents. Titration sensors include pH, ORP, ISE, color, & turbidity. Heating and temperature measurement are optional. Sensors (not shown) are used to detect when the cell is full (for sample capture) and empty (for cleaning). A magnetic stir motor is located under the cell (black cube).

Typical Analysis Steps Prime reagents Draw in sample Prepare reaction cell Initiate replenishment Dispense sample Purge sample lines Sample is drawn in by external sample pressure or internal sample pump or eductor. Reagents are primed automatically if not detected. An alarm is given if priming fails. Prepare reaction cell includes rinsing to prevent old sample carryover. It can also include calibration, heating, cooling, and adding reagent(s). Dispense sample is by 1) syringe burette, 2) dose pump, or 3) flow-thru sample capture. Measurement can be by titration, colorimetric analysis, or pH reading. Titration can be differential, absolute, end of change, or standard addition using pH, ORP, ISE, color, or turbidity. Titration settings can include speed, resolution, start/stop window, replicates (min/max repeats), mixing speed, and more. Colorimetric analysis can be single or multiple wavelength for maximum sensitivity and selectability. pH readings are auto calibrated with multiple buffers. Calculate result & repeat. The analysis can be repeated automatically until they converge (agree). Initiate replenishment. Replenishment is optional. It can be automatic, manual, or semi-auto (approve first). Sample lines can be purged with air, if the analyzer is equipped to do so. This guarantees a fresh sample for the next analysis and also can back flush sample filters, if present. Clean reaction cell is to flush with either sample or water. Measure Clean reaction cell Calculate result & repeat analysis

Sampling Capabilities Single or multiple process streams Pressurized or open tank Ultrasonic sample arrival detection Optional: Sample filter with auto back flush – for high particulate samples Cooling, depressurization, deairation, dilution, or buffering Grab sample analysis Stream selection can be by various methods to meet particular requirements. Examples are: Rotary valve, valve manifold, overflow sampler. Samples can be pressurized and flowing through a fast loop, or stagnant such as in an open vessel. Ultrasonic sample detection means no false analyses of partial, foaming, or old samples. Detection is reliable and verifies sample arrival. This list of options shows some ways that process conditions can be accommodated. Our experience allows us to select or design the best method. Grab sample analysis port option permits analyzing bottled samples or standards.

Precision Reagent Dispensing Dose pumps No peristaltic tubing: durable, no maintenance Fine, 20 μl resolution Reagent sensors included The standard L400 uses a rugged dose pump for reagent dispensing. This pump does not use peristaltic tubing and therefore requires much less maintenance. 20 ul dose pump resolution conserves reagent. Medical grade ultrasonic sensors are used to detect when each reagent is ready. The analyzer automatically alarms if the reagent becomes empty.

High Precision Syringes Syringe pumps: Extra fine reagent dispensing to 0.1 μl High resolution results Very low reagent consumption These syringes offer 10x the precision and imperceptible drift. They are low maintenance, requiring syringe replacement about once per year (a quick, 10 minute, procedure).
