HOUR Picture: Definition: MATH Grades 3-5 Unit 4 HOUR Definition: An hour is a unit of time — it's sixty minutes, 3,600 seconds, or the length it takes the long hand on your watch to move in a full circle. Picture: Example: We just got back an hour ago.

HALF-HOUR Picture: Definition: MATH Grades 3-5 Unit 4 Definition: A half of an hour – it’s thirty minutes, or the length it takes the long hand on your watch to move half a circle. Picture: Example: We haven’t been out of the house for a half-hour.

QUARTER HOUR Picture: Definition: MATH Grades 3-5 Unit 4 Definition: A quarter of an hour – it’s fifteen minutes, or the length it takes the long hand on your watch to move a quarter of a circle. Picture: Example: Within a quarter hour the tech will be here to get you.

MINUTE Picture: Definition: MATH Grades 3-5 Unit 4 MINUTE Definition: A unit of time equal to 60 seconds or 1/60th of an hour. Picture: Example: He listened for a minute and then he became angry.

ELAPSED TIME Picture: Definition: MATH Grades 3-5 Unit 4 Definition: The time that elapses while some event is occurring. Picture: Problem: Haley watched a fireworks show. The first firework went off at 8:15. She watched until the show ended 20 minutes later. What time was it when the fireworks show ended?
