After the Trojan War, Orestes’ father Agamemnon returned with the Trojan princess Cassandra Despite the warnings, Agamemnon was murdered by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus

Orestes ran away with his sister Electra and found refuge at the court of Athens Apollo urged them to avenge for their father’s death Planned and went back to the city with Pylades to kill Clytemnestra and Aegisthus

Committing matricide brought fury of Erinyes, Orestes was driven mad and pursued by them Athena held a formal trial with 12 judges and the result was voted as a tie Apollo advised him to go to Tauris with Pylades and return with a statue of Artemis

The priestess of Artemes offered help if they agree to carry a letter for her brother Pylades agreed and realized who the prietess really was after he received the letter, Orestes’ sister Iphigenia who was believed to be sacrificed to Artemis Eventually they three escaped with the statue of Artemis

Reclaimed the throne of his father and become the ruler of Mycenae and died after bitten by a snake
