GAP BETWEEN HAVES & HAVE NOTS Legacy Education Problem: High Teacher-Student Ratio High Drop Out Rates Lack of Personalized Care GAP BETWEEN HAVES & HAVE NOTS

Education needs Engagement

GAP BETWEEN HAVES & HAVE NOTS ICT Based Education Problem: Expensive ICT Tools for ICT based education Lack of ICT for Education Experts Distraction while learning with internet GAP BETWEEN HAVES & HAVE NOTS

ICT Based Education Cont. ICT helps -The online education initiatives supposedly improve the situation. However, the effect is still unknown but assumed to be positive (Underwood et al., 2009) -ICT “positively affects all the stakeholders of the education field”, (Tikam, 2013) ICT doesn’t help -In context of Portugal, broadband connectivity has had negative impact on the grades of high school students, (Belo et al. (2014) -Children spend a vast part of time playing computer games, (Malamud & Pop- Eleches, 2010)

GAP BETWEEN HAVES & HAVE NOTS Can we ? REDUCE GAP BETWEEN HAVES & HAVE NOTS

How ICT Can Help??? One way Delivery: PPT in Classroom MOOC: Video Lectures Open Courseware Online Assessment Both Way delivery/Participatory: Adaptive learning Just-in-Time Tutoring

We have tried the third option JUST-IN-TIME (JINTE) TUTORING FOR STUDENTS TO GET GUIDANCE FROM EXPERTS

Just-in-Time (JINTE) Tutoring Web: m.tutor71.com

JINTE Service Model

Research Method Short briefing Pre-Test Class Post-Test Haves Have Nots

JINTE Pilot Run School Shamsul Haque Khan School & College Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College Target Class XI & XII Total Students 1500 3000 Gender Female Only Both Male & Female Sample group 50 Sample Course Physics Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Total Class Conducted 5 8 Total Questions Received 93 128 Quiz Performance Better than non participating students Improve performance by using JINTE
