to the Fort Worth Chamber’s Member Information Center Adding a News Release to the Fort Worth Chamber’s Member Information Center and Website

Welcome back! The Member Information Center allows you to do more than just update your Company Information. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to post a news release from your Company to the Fort Worth Chamber website and Member Information Center. This training slideshow will go at your pace. To advance to the next bit of information, just click your mouse or hit “Enter.”

Go to www.fortworthchamber.com. Then click on “Members Login.” Do you remember how to get back into the Member Information Center?

Enter the username and password you chose. Click “Submit.” Forgot one or the other? Click “Forgot your username/password?”

Enter your email address and click “Get Password.” You will receive an email allowing you to reset your password. We don’t keep them and cannot reset it for you.

If you get this message, you are either using the wrong email address OR you have not set up your log in. First, go back and look for your Welcome email with the link to set up your log in. If you can’t find the email, contact us. We’re happy to help!

There you are! And you’re back in! Today we are going to learn how to post a news release to the Member Information Center and Chamber website. Click “News Releases.” Watch for other tutorials on using the other fun features!

Sharing your Company’s news with fellow Members and with visitors to the Chamber website is a great way to let people know about all the exciting things going on at your Company! Click “Add News Release.” It is FREE to you as a Chamber Member.

IMPORTANT Be sure to give your news release a title! The default will be just “News Release” and the date. That’s not compelling in any way. You’ll also want to mention your Company name in the title. Choose your run dates. We recommend choosing one font and sticking with it throughout your post. We recommend a minimum font size of 14 when customizing your posting. You may copy and paste from Word, but be sure to review it to ensure it looks right. Sometimes Word will inject formatting you did not intend.

Be sure to indicate a category. Only the Chamber may post to the “Chamber” category. Don’t worry! If you accidentally check it, we’ll uncheck it before posting. It’s a great idea to add a photo to your release. Choose something specific to the information, or use your logo. Click “Add Image.”

Click “Choose File.”

Find your logo on your own computer. Click on the graphic you want, and the name of it will show up here. Click “Open.”

Ensure that this is the file you wanted. Click “Done.”

And there’s your photo!

Choose one of your representatives from the drop down list for a contact person, or fill in the boxes for someone else.

If you choose one of your active Reps, that person’s information will automatically populate here. Click “Submit for Approval.” Save your draft any time.

Unfortunately, there is no preview for news releases. Now you wait… Chamber staff reviews submissions daily. If there are any questions, you’ll be contacted.

On the Chamber website, Member news releases are posted under “News + Media” then “Member Announcements.”

They are listed by release date, and visitors may search by Category.

This is an example of what a news release looks like on our site.

Your news release will also show up in the MIC under “News Releases.”

This is an example of how it will look in the MIC.

It will also be posted on the MIC NewsFeed.

And it will be tweeted to all of the Fort Worth Chamber’s Twitter followers! That’s a pretty great Membership perk.

You can manage your New Release posts from the MIC. Click “Manage News Releases.”

Or even add more news! Here you will see what you have pending, approved, passed, etc. You may edit, preview, copy, or delete news releases. We encourage you to share all your big news through the Fort Worth Chamber Member Information Center and website!

No idea how to write a news release? Why not contact one of the public relations firms who are your fellow Chamber members? Visit https://business.fortworthchamber.com/list and search for keyword “public relations” to find Chamber member companies who specialize in public relations. They’re all amazing at news releases!

That’s it! You’ve added a new release to the Chamber’s website and the Member Information Center. If you encounter issues or need assistance, we’re here to help! Member Services Coordinator Ms. Liesl Manone lmanone@fortworthchamber.com or (817) 338-3373 Director of Database Services Ms. Stephanie Grant sgrant@fortworthchamber.com or (817) 338-3384 Be sure to watch our other training guides, which will show you how to post events, job openings, promotions and discounts, and more!
