Time Management District Convention 2015 Catherine Kim, Service Projects Committee Chair Jasmine Wong, Member Recognition Committee Chair Time Management

Are you good at time management?

My binder is: Pretty Neat Messy

It’s important that you can find what you need when you need it!

I do my assignments: In the car Anywhere On my bed At the table At a desk On the couch In front of the TV

The best place to work is at a desk or table The best place to work is at a desk or table. In these locations, it’s often easier to get down to business!

“May the odds ever be found in the back of the textbook.” I do my tasks: At the same place most of the time In lots of different places “May the odds ever be found in the back of the textbook.”

It’s great that you have one main spot for working It’s great that you have one main spot for working. Just being there will tell your brain to stay focused on your tasks!

When I get ready to do tasks, I: Have all the stuff I need nearby Have to hunt around for the things I need Always seem to be looking for something Realize I forgot to bring home something I need

Having all your supplies nearby shows that you’re organized for anything. It also helps you get it done more quickly!

Listening to music can help you focus: True False

There’s no right or wrong answer to this one There’s no right or wrong answer to this one! If you want to try some music, try classical. Depending on the music, it can be relaxing or uplifting and it has no words to distract you.

Get organized! Stay focused! Get it done!

Take Time to Plan out your Day Daily To Do List Have combination of tasks you need to get done and activities you want to do Ex. Math hw, 2 Chapters of Brave New World, Afternoon run, Guitar, 1 TV Show

Plan “in reverse” Plan from the “event date” backward Create a plan to help you arrive to your goal Adjust according to the situation

Reflection point out positives and areas of improvement reflect on what you can do better next time when you have a task always strive to improve yourself you will never stop growing as a person

Making Deadlines leave time before absolute final deadlines (2-3 days before) give specific time and date January 01st 2015 before 6:00PM PST emphasize deadline highlighting or large font

Proactive Planning when planning big events or service projects plan well in advance (3-5 months) have meetings frequently throughout planning period when event comes closer, have more meetings reduce stress create timeline

Finals Tips The more specific you write out your tasks, the more likely you will get it done If the task is too big to take on in one day, divide the task into chunks When you physically write down tasks, you will remember the task more than if it was typed or just in your head
