Please note that for the purpose of distinguishing between the current 5-module CPIM configuration and the new 2-part CPIM configuration in this presentation, exams and courseware associated with the 5-module configuration will be described as legacy products and the exams and courseware associated with the 2-part configuration will be described as new products. Immediately following the announcement, APICS posted a press release which received international notoriety within a few short weeks as a variety of media outlets reported this news.

The ECM will continue to be packaged in the Learning Systems, just as they are in the current Workbooks and the CSCP and CLTD Learning Systems, but some of you may want to check out the new ECM early, so please be aware of the ECM release date for reference.

Partners and candidates will still be able to buy Exam Credits and ATTs for the legacy Basics exam until January 7, 2018. As we will see in a moment, the legacy Basics exam will be discontinued from delivery on January 7.2018. This is important to note if you, or your students, want to take the legacy Basics before that exam is retired. Normally the ATTs and ECs have a 6 month expiration. But July 7, 2017 represents the date six months from when the legacy BSCM Exams can no longer be taken. So each day the candidate waits AFTER July 7 to purchase a Basics exam ATT or an Exam Credit, the amount of time they have to take the exam will be reduced.

However, if a candidate buys the Exam Credit or ATT on October 7, they will have only 3 months to take the legacy Basics exam. Please be aware that the schedule is different for the other four legacy CPIM exams which will discuss shortly.

On this same date, we will also discontinue selling legacy BSCM courseware since the last date to take the exam will be January 7. Candidates who still have access time to the legacy Basics exam simulator will still be allowed access to help them prepare for their exam which they will need to take on or before January 7. Also on this same milestone, we will discontinue selling legacy MPR/DSP/ECO and SMR exams to anyone who did not take any of the four exams previously or had not previously purchased the courseware for one of these modules. And finally, we will also discontinue selling legacy courseware to anyone who did not take any of the four exams or had not purchased courseware for one of the other four modules. These candidates will be directed to the new Learning Systems and exams.

The delivery of the combined components (MPR, DSP, ECO & SMR) into one exam is very different from the candidate's experience when taking each module separately. Because of this difference, we cannot use the previous performance or psychometric statistics of each exam individually. Ratification of the cut score will occur at a Certification Committee meeting in December. Remember if your candidate waited to purchase their Authorization to Test on January 6, they will have one day to take the exam. The new Part 1 exam will be slightly longer and will contain new Technologically Enhanced Items (TEIs) providing a more interactive testing experience for the candidate representative of more real-life situations. Examples will include fill in the blank, drag & drop, and ordered lists with more detailed explanations and examples included in the Exam Content Manual. One additional change to point out is that the new CPIM exams will have 3 year expiration dates.
