2016-2017 Power Technology Certificate Program

CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the Power Technology Certificate (PTC) program of 2016-17. Siemens Power Academy and Siemens PTI has been operating this program, sponsored by Con Edison, since circa 1972. More that 1000 participants have taken the program and you will soon join the ranks of the PTC alumni. Over the next two years, you will participate in 13 technical units related to power system engineering and application. The material will be challenging for both engineers and non-engineers alike. Stay focused, attend class, participate in the assignments, and ask for help if you need it. The knowledge you gain and the relationships you build, will serve you and your families well in your career with Con Edison. Best of Luck! The Siemens Power Academy Team

Course overview Overview The Power Technology Certificate Program is a comprehensive program of study focusing on topics relating to distribution planning, design, and operation. Through a series of courses this program teaches distribution design concepts, protection, equipment application, economic considerations, reliability, environmental issues, and standard operating practices for today’s distribution system network. Goals and Objectives The overall goal of the program is to enhance your technical understanding of electric power distribution systems and equipment. Having completed this program, participants will demonstrate a deeper knowledge of distribution technology. Specific learning objectives include enhancing a participant’s fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering theory, equipment applications, and system and equipment reliability considerations.

CourseWebs Learning Management System (LMS) What is it? Siemens Power Academy uses a Learning Management System (LMS for short) as an online portal to reach out to our students and help them manage classes, coursework, and assignments. Our learning management system is also linked with our online catalog, which allows students to view and register for our course offerings. How do I use it? A user account will be set up for you. You will receive a user ID and password that you will use to log into the site at http://siemens.coursewebs.com Materials for your course Course notes, homework, quizzes and other information can be found in your LMS account.
