SWBAT… Create their own blog post on Kidblog. Publish their first blog post on Kidblog. Take the risk of sharing their writing with peers though blogging.

BASIC BLOGGING EXPECTATIONS When the teacher is giving instructions, screens should be pac- manned so you are not distracted. We will be completing 1-2 blogs per week either in class or as homework. Blogs entries should use academic English (including correct capitalization, spelling, and grammar – no texting abbreviations). Blogs will be graded for completion and on a rubric at RANDOM! Scholars will use appropriate language and comment respectfully. Have fun! Take risks. Make your writing worth reading.

1. Access the Muchin Wiki.

2. Click on the link to access class blogs.

3. Click on your class period’s blog site.

4. Click on Login to view posts to sign in to your personal account.

5. Click on the dropdown list to select your name, then enter your given password. Your password is your first initial + middle initial + full last name Example: If my name is Joanne K. Rowling, my password will be jkrowling If my name is Maya Angelou, my password will be mangelou.

8. Type your title. For all class-assigned blog posts, your title should always include the following: the blog number + original title or assignment name. Example: Blog #1: About Me!

9. Start typing your blog post! AFTER typing, feel free to change the font type, color, and alignment. Make it your own! Do not make the font SIZE too large or too small. 12 point is IDEAL.

Blog #1: About Me! This post is worth 10 points. You will be graded on the quality AND quantity of your writing as well as whether you submit it on time. All blog posts must be written in Academic English and must use APPROPRIATE language. If you are unsure about whether something is appropriate to post, you probably should not include it in your post. Your blog post must be published to Kidblog by THURSDAY, 3/15, before class. If it is late or not posted, you will receive LaSalle and a zero or a lower grade. It must be titled as: Blog #1: About Me or an original name. Be creative and original!

10. Finished typing? Add some pizzazz to your post! (OPTIONAL) You may do the following things to personalize your post: Change background color and texture. Change font color and style. Add a header photo. Include links to media (ONLY IF APPROVED BY TEACHER).

11. You’re almost done! Now it’s time to publish your post! Make sure you have checked for the following things: -Spelling/grammar errors -Use of Academic English. -All criteria met for successful blog post.

12. Click publish one more time!

13. Ta-Da! You have just published your very first blog post on Kidblog!
