Support in growing our young adults…... Our tutor group is the home from home within the school. The relationship between tutor and home is the most important as the tutor will know the student best through their academic progress and conduct. Clear contact is essential. Clear structure in place everyday to support literacy and numeracy within their learning.

Easthampstead Park Community School

Easthampstead Park Community School Our Values, Beliefs and Behaviours We value and respect all people for their knowledge, experience and capabilities. We value our heritage and we believe families and our local community can play an inspiring and purposeful role in young people’s learning. We believe that all young people from every kind of background should be equally recognised as being creative and individual. We believe that learning should engage all members of the community in order to support them in fulfilling their personal and academic potential. We expect everyone to demonstrate through their actions and behaviours, respect for themselves and the community – people, property and the environment - and take pride in what they are capable of achieving. We expect parents to be involved with the school, taking an active interest in the development of their own and others' children, and for staff to seek opportunities for parents to come into school.

Role of the tutor The role of the tutor within the education of our students is at the very heart of our EPCS vision. The raising standards team has developed a system to help students and parents deliver clear expectations to ensure success for your child. Parents and tutors working together will create the tone which will help your child achieve their potential.

Daily Essentials Setting the bar high at the beginning of the year. •Uniform. •Diaries - seen and signed weekly by parents/carers •Tools for learning. Common areas where uniform begins to slip. •Earrings •skirts •sleeves •changing shoes

Weekly Schedule Day AM PM Monday Reading Tuesday Assembly Class Charts Wednesday Maths Thursday Diary Signing, UA’s, etc Friday Quiz

If questions arise … Subject Teacher Form Tutor Assistant Head of Year “IF” – many students go through school quite successfully with no issues arising at all. For issues with work – subject teachers have the knowledge and are best place to help. For other issues the form tutor – they see your son or daughter twice each day, every day

Numeracy and Literacy Staff have undertaken an inset to ensure the numeracy programme is effectively delivered within the tutor time. Each student has a ‘my maths’ login to support their learning at home. These are available today. During the first half term the literacy focus is on reading within the tutor room. This time is also being used to introduce the student council programme and go through the election process. After half term the programme will move toward debate and looking at current issues.

An IT platform for the 21st century Realsmart@EPCS An IT platform for the 21st century

Records positive and negative behaviours electronically We will be having whole class conversations to discuss progression twice a week. Identify concerning/positive patterns of behaviour within the tutor group and allow early intervention if required to deal with these concerns. Tracking students providing specific feedback, informing your child about their current attitude to learning and being successful.

Class charts example Recording of positives and negative behaviours electronically. Adjust seating plans according to ability and learning styles Track and monitor students running intelligence events to allow us in providing the right support for their learning.

Homework SIMS Learning Gateway The parental opportunity to track homework!! Stickers will be issued to students which will be stuck in diaries and parents will be provided with username and password to monitor their child.

Raising Standards will take place if these are achieved consistently: All students are aiming for 100% attendance All students must wear their uniform correctly All students are responsible for having the correct tools for learning All students must follow RESPECT & PRIDE At all times students must have their student diary We want all students to enjoy learning, make progress and believe in the success of Easthampstead Park Community School.

It’s up to you and us, working in collaboration, in supporting your child to be ready for the future Any questions? Thank you BE PROUD
