Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Based on seven areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Dev. Communication and Language Physical Development Literacy Maths Understanding of the World Expressive Arts and Design

Learning Diaries Pictures, photos and writing from home as well as Wow slips School work that they are proud of too – e.g. a colouring sheet

Reading at Home Share books at home e.g. Library, school reading scheme books, favourite bedtime books Books without words – being a reader is not just about being able to decode words Reading more than once Before starting to read each book – look at title cover picture, blurb on back cover, sounds and ‘before reading’ comments inside front cover Tell a story, make a prediction, use inference, talk about the characters in a story – what are they thinking and feeling?, other comprehension skills.
