Time Clock Team A player receives double minor penalty for Head Contact When a goal is scored by Team B and the time keeper stops the clock. The clock reads 2:00 Does Team A player come out of the box? What do you do? Q31 - Q

You ask yourself when a team is scored upon:  1) Is the team short handed? 2) Is the team serving a minor or bench minor penalty?   If the answer is “yes” to both, then the minor or bench minor penalty with the least amount of time is cancelled. As the second minor is now “on the clock”, then it is the penalty which would be cancelled. Think about it this way: if there were 2:01 in the double minor, the :01 would be removed and the second minor would be put on the board (2:00). In this case, the clock reads 2:00 – so the second minor is cancelled.

Scenario #1 Team A #15 is on a breakaway in the neutral zone, when Team B #12 catches up with him and fouls him from behind. Teammate A#9 picks up the loose puck and gets a clear shot on net, but fails to score.

Scenario #2 Team A has removed their goaltender for an extra attacker. Team B#8 obtains a breakaway in the neutral or attacking zone. B#8 shoots the puck at the open goal. Team A#2 throws his stick at the shot puck. Question: Do you award a goal?

What penalties are assessed? Scenario #3 Team A#8 crosschecks Team B#4 calling for a Minor penalty. B#4 uses his glove and gives A#8 a face wash in retaliation. A#8 punches B#4 in the face and B#4 punches A#8 in the side of the head. The officials separate the two opponents. Team A#6 comes by and slashes B#4, who retaliates with a punch to the head of A#6. What penalties are assessed?

Scenario #4 A stoppage of play occurs with 1:58 left in the 3rd period during an Atom house league game. The coach from Team A feels that Team B has been overly aggressive throughout the game and voices his concerns with the officials, at the lack of penalty calls. The coach from Team A decides that his player’s safety is in jeopardy and withdraws his team from the ice and into their dressing room.
