School Lunches More than 21 million children qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. Many of these children go all weekend without any thing to eat over the weekend.

Child Hunger Children that are hungry preform worse in school. They are more likely to fail a grade due to the lack of focus caused by hunger. Many of them face developmental impairment and delays. They also often have social and behavior problems.

Feed kids they are most in need! Backpack Program- Weekends Kid’s Café- After School Summer-Food Service Programs

Backpack Program The Backpack Program helps children get the nutritious and easy-to- prepare food they need to get enough to eat on the weekends. Today, bags of food are assembled at more than 160 local food banks and school and are then distributed to more than 450,000 children at the end of the week. Many schools count on food donations from other families, businesses, and organizations to get the food for the backpacks they send home with these children on Fridays.

Everyday a child dies of starvation.

Backpack Program The backpack food program requires the cooperation and support of the entire community. It literally takes a team and community to help keep our children from going hungry. It takes school officials, community organizations, faith-based organizations, parents, and children to make this work.
