The Quilt story The genre of this story is realistic fiction. Listen to the story and think about what makes it realistic fiction.

The genre of this story is Realistic fiction. It is realistic fiction because the people in the story act like real people act. The parents take care of the children, sew, and build things. They live in homes and do not have any super powers that real people don’t really have. The genre of this story is Realistic fiction.

Compare Abigail to the girl who later moved into Abigail’s house… We can COMPARE the girls by telling the things that are the SAME about the 2 girls… First, they both loved the quilt and had mothers who fixed the quilt for them. Next, they both moved to a new home and felt uneasy about the new home. Last, the quilt brought comfort to both girls in their new homes. Here are some differences between the girls. We can contrast these two characters by talking about these differences. Abigail lived long ago, but the new girl lives in a time close to today. Abigail’s family used candles for light, but the new girl used electricity. Abigail rode on a horse to town and her family traveled in a wagon to their new home. The new girl rode in car to travel and moved to her new home with a truck. Compare Abigail to the girl who later moved into Abigail’s house…
