Diet Diet: All of the food and beverages you consume Diet Contributes to: Physical needs Social needs Emotional needs

Hunger vs. Appetite Hunger: Appetite: The physical need for food The desire to eat certain foods and reject others Influences: Personal likes Culture Family Customs Lifestyles/Resources Environment Knowledge

Paragraph Examples I eat what I want. My family has always put spices and flavor in their food. We always experiment with food. I also eat based on what it look like. The reason is the culture because my family came from Mexico. Another reason is knowledge because knowledge is power. Those are the two that influence me. My personal likes and family customs are the biggest influences on my diet. I like most foods but I have a lot of preferences. For example, I try to avoid seafood, breakfast foods, and most desserts because I just don’t like them. Second, my mom does most of the cooking and is a very healthy cook. She uses a lot of vegetables and wholegrain foods.
