Discourse Community Analysis Identify the characteristics of language (primarily written) within your discipline Conduct 2-3 interviews from individuals who are at different levels of “literacy” within your discipline (pertaining to writing and studies) Compare your interview finding with some scholarly writing in your discipline. Identify patterns and themes and present them in the form of an empirical report (APA format) Discourse Community Analysis

Scholarly Literature Evaluation Select at least 2 scholarly journals from your discipline and one article from each journal Evaluate the journals based on scholarly source criteria and usefulness to exploring and answering a research question within your discipline Remember the audience and purpose of this project Provide examples from the articles to “show” how they are a good match for this audience and purpose.
