WHAT IS CADMIUM? CADMIUM IS A SOFT BLUE-WHITE, MALLEABLE, LUSTROUS OR GRAYISH-WHITE POWDER. SOME COMPOUNDS MAY ALSO APPEAR AS A BROWN, YELLOW OR RED POWDER

OCCUPATIONS AND PROCESSES CADMIUM MAY BE FOUND: ABRASIVE BLASTING PNEUMATIC SANDING GRINDING VARIOUS SURFACES CLEANING ABRASIVE GLOVE BOX SPRAY PAINTING WELDING AND SOLDERING

PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE LIMIT PEL= 50 micrograms (0.005 ug/m3)

ACTION LEVEL ACTION LEVEL = 25 micrograms (0.0025 ug/m3) AS AN 8 HOUR TIME WEIGHTED AVERAGE (TWA)

HOUSEKEEPING ALL SURFACES SHALL REMAIN FREE FROM ACCUMULATIONS SPILLS AND SUDDEN RELEASES SHALL BE CLEANED UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SURFACES SHALL BE VACUUMED TO MINIMIZE CADMIUM BECOMING AIRBORNE

PERSONAL HYGIENE SHOWERS SHALL BE TAKEN AT THE END OF EACH WORK SHIFT WHEN THE EXPOSURE LEVEL IS ABOVE THE PEL ENSURE FACE AND HANDS ARE WASHED PRIOR TO EATING, DRINKING, SMOKING, CHEWING TOBACCO, GUM OR APPLYING COSMETICS

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES IF PERSONNEL BECOME SICK OR INJURED: - REMOVE FROM WORKSITE - REMOVE PPE AND ADMINISTER FIRST AID - CALL FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

TRAINING PERSONNEL SHALL RECEIVE TRAINING PRIOR TO OR AT THE TIME OF INITIAL ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES WITH CADMIUM AND ANNUALLY THERE- AFTER
