Welcome to Mrs. DeRita’s 4th & 5th grade Technology class I Am Glad That You Are Here

I’m Mrs. DeRita!

Meet My Family!!

Class Guidelines Take directions from the teacher at the door before entering. go directly to your computer. And follow the beginning class routine! Make sure you Come in quietly when you enter the computer lab! You will be assigned a computer today and that will be your assigned seat for the year (unless you need to me moved by the teacher). Use the color card system to ask for help and/or to print. Always give me “5” before you leave the lab!

Log-In Cards Find your Log-In Card hanging on the side of your computer. This will be your name tag that you can slip into the clear name tag holders at the top of your monitor. Please be careful with them. They can fall off easily! If we have any pass-codes or logins- we can write them on the back! YOU AREN’T ALLOWED TO LOOK OR USE ANYONE ELSES NAME TAGS AND/OR PASSCODES

Blue Color Card In the cup on the side of your monitor you will find 3 colored cards. Post the Blue card that says “I need help but I can continue working” when you need the teachers assistance but you think you can continue working and wait patiently for your teacher to help you.

Red Color Card Post the red card when you need help and you Can’t Continue working without your teachers help. Remember you can always quietly ask a neighbor first (unless we are testing). However, even with a red card it might take a few minutes for your teacher to get to you. Please be patient!

Green Color Card The Green card is to be used only when we are doing a project that involves printing. Usually I will have you post this card when you are finished with your project before you print so I can first check your work! We don’t want to waist paper and ink. Remember, you are only allowed to print once.

Be Patient! Remember there is only one of me and over 30 of you, so please BE PATIENT with the lab teacher. This is key to a successful class. When I am giving directions wait until the directions are complete. I will always ask for questions before I have you work independently. And remember, while you’re working if you still need help you can always post one of your color cards. Help!

Our Lab Rules Listen to and follow directions and always work quietly. Never touch someone elses computer, keyboard, mouse, or log-in card. Be kind and show respect to your teacher and classmates. Be gentle with the mice & headphones Print with permission ONLY (only print ONCE) If you need help, post your colored cards to the monitor to help your teacher meet your needs quickly.

It is important to take your time to log-in properly. : How to log-in:: Example: First & last initial (lower case) & ID number jd11564975 jd11564975a Same as User Name with an “a” at the end

Clean Computers make Happy Computers Please keep our computers happy by taking good care of them and keeping them clean. No food, drinks or gum allowed in the lab!!! Wash hands after eating and using the restroom; before coming into the lab

Restroom Break Your teacher should have given you time to use restroom before coming to the lab. You will not be allowed to use the bathroom during DIRECTIONS. You might miss something fun or important if you go and really do not have to. Raise your hand to get permission to go.

Three Strikes– “Your r r r Out!” First & Second time—warning Third Time- break away from computer. Get a chance to return to computer. Fourth Time-non participation in classroom activities – longer break and a conversation with your classroom teacher. Fifth Time-Note home to parents and Principal
