This project is designed to be help keep students engaged during the third quarter animal research unit. These recording sheets can be used in combination with the smart board lessons and videos already available on technology connections in the third quarter. Slides 2-5 can be printed to make a student booklet. The booklet can be referred to throughout the unit as a reference and recording area during the lessons. The booklet can be collected at the end of the unit as a grade and used as a source of information for students to complete an end of unit project. Print Slide 2-4 to make a booklet for each student. Slide 2- Cover Page- Students can work with partners to explore the Science Text book, Time for Kids, or watch one of the animal videos online to access their prior knowledge about animals and record on the front cover in a circle map. Slide 3-This page follows along with the Discovery Education Video on Technology Connections, Animal Groups: Beginning Classification.(the recording sheet does not start till the 2nd half of the video so you could show the first half and model how to record and then hand out recording sheets and have students record on their own) The information is also presented in the science text book in the same order and format as on the recording sheet. Slide 4 – What do Animals Eat? This page is a follow up to the smart board, What Animals Eat and the two videos Carnivores, Herbivores, and Omnivores. Students can write or draw the animals on the tree map or they can use the clip art from the 10th slide. Slide 5- Camouflage or Mimicry ?
