Tips and tricks for an ace… James Meeker

Be Prepared Know answers to the common questions in an interview Answer every question honestly.

General Tips Take it easy, (Momentai.) Breathe normally, and avoid fidgeting, ask questions, get comfortable.

Know the Job Know the job that you are interviewing for. Background info about the company!

Attire This is America. Look good. Formal clothing, but nothing outrageously bright.

What to Bring? Bring a spare resume in case the interviewer misplaces theirs. A small note pad for notes. A pen! `

Arriving at the Interview Arrive early for time to get used to your environment. Use the restroom prior to the interview. Turn off your phone.

Introduction Introduce yourself not bluntly about who you are: No ages or boring things. Introduce WHO you are and WHAT you have to offer.

Exchange Information Return appropriate questions to get comfortable. Give straight forward answers to everything.

Closing the Interview Many end with the: “Do you have any questions for me?” Ask any appropriate question for that time about what you would be doing. Say that you will contact them in about a week.

Following Up A thank you letter can possibly make a difference. After about a week if no word is given, give them a call and ask if the position still holds. (Be professional)

Following Up + If the first interview could have gone on longer on both sides but got cut short: Call the interviewer and schedule again. Prepare for another chance. Think about how to improve.
