PBIS Implementation at a glance In Summer of 2014, our school leadership team and school administrators saw the need for a universal behavior system in our school system. A PBIS team was formed and sent to training from the DOE. An action plan was created and introduced to entire staff. Timeline of implementation was created and given to staff to provide a detailed visual of the layout of the PBIS system along with redelivery of state training.
PBIS Team: It all starts here! Our team consists of a representative from each area of the school, a team coach, school counselor and administrators. Our keys to a successful team: Teamwork makes the dream work! Include an array of personalities and teaching styles. Recruit positive people! Encourage all team members to believe in PBIS!
Getting staff on board -Training if possible (team training) -Believe in it, be patient and be positive (See a trend here??) -Encourage the understanding that this initiative is the beginning of something awesome that can positively affect all students and staff in your school. It is not just an “in and out” program. -At TPS each grade level personalizes The Rebel Way ways that works best with their students. (brag tags and scaffolding) -We owe this to our students to provide behavior support just as we do academic support. -Lead by example and be patient.
