Our Approach Reading should be fun!!!! We will use a variety of techniques to ensure success for all learners. Independent Reading Group Reading Read Aloud in Class I will use the Basal as well as fun literature. I will alternate. Lots of group work as well as independent study.
Guided Reading Groups Your child will be placed in a guided reading group each semester. Students will work collaboratively and individually to show comprehension and to discuss and debate ideas about the book using guided questions.
Vocabulary This year we will focus on Latin Roots and words taken from the literature we are reading. The words will be challenging. Increasing vocabulary knowledge helps students be better readers. Vocabulary will be tested regularly throughout the year.
