Experiences and conclusions The businesses would like to employ migrant workers, but they don’t know all the rules and opportunities there are for receiving help and contributions towards mentoring arrangements, language courses, skills based education etc. 18-09-2018 EFFAT conference at Cyprus- Integration of Migrant workers
Experiences and conclusions The migrant workers should be offered real jobs with the same salary and on the same terms as the rest of the employees. Shorter introduction periods with training and language courses, can be arranged. It’s an advantage to create mentoring arrangements at the work place, so that there is always a colleague who can assist with advice and guidance 18-09-2018 EFFAT conference at Cyprus- Integration of Migrant workers
Experiences and conclusions It is important to hold the political debate in your organisation, with your members and not least the employees and the elected people in the organisation We have to be very aware of our roles as ”front staff”, meeting the ethnic fellow citizens and future colleagues We should not be afraid to challenge racist remarks when spoken out loud We have to tell the good side of story – create positive role models 18-09-2018 EFFAT conference at Cyprus- Integration of Migrant workers
