Citing Your Sources When referring to evidence and information from passages, students should use paraphrasing and short quotations. To credit sources, students should use informal, in-text citations (e.g., MLA author or title tags).
Informal Citation
Citing Your Sources Ex: The text “In Praise of Careful Science” says “Most of the time, scientists work for decades and make very few mistakes.”
Or, you can use a tag at the end of the sentence: Ex: Romantic poetry is described as the "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings” (Wordsworth). Author Tag

Citing Your Sources If you don’t know the author, use all or part of the title. Ex:"Standardized tests could effectively measure student understanding" (American Testing). Title Tag
