Our Local Government

The Local Government…. The local government leads our community. Sets laws Provides services (fire department, police, streets, and parks and recreation) Let’s take a look at Corsicana’s local government……

Mayor Chuck mcclanahan The mayor is elected by the citizens of a town or city. He sets laws and runs the Community (solves problems). X He appoints people to serve the citizens of Corsicana.

Corsicana city council The city council is a group of elected citizens that work with the Mayor to run the community.

Ensuring the safety of our citizens..

Corsicana sheriff Sheriff Elmer Tanner helps to keep our Community safe.

Judge A judge is the leader of a court. He or she helps decide if people are guilty of breaking the law.

Local government Our local government runs our schools, makes sure we have clean water, provides emergency services (citizens stay safe), sets laws and more! Government affects everyone’s lives so it is important to be involved in our community’s government.
