Location of Organ By: Jacie Sagouspe •Posterior to the stomach •Behind the parietal peritoneum •A duct joins the pancreas to the duodenum (first section of the small intestine)

Basic Anatomy of Organ By: Jacie Sagouspe •Elongated, somewhat flattened organ •The right side of the organ (head) is the widest part of the organ •Weighs about 100 grams and is 14-20 cm long

General function of Organ By: Mia Valdivia and Rebecca Johnson Produces the correct chemicals in the proper quantities at the right times to digest food Converts the food we eat into fuel for the body cells Two main functions: an endocrine function, that helps digestion, and an endocrine function that regulates blood sugar Exocrine glands produce enzymes that are important to digestion Tryspin Chymoxrypsin Amylaze Lipase An endocrine function component consists of islet cells that create and release important hormones directly into the bloodstream

Secretions and Their Functions By: Summer Horan In the Pancreas, there are two hormones that are secreted: Insulin Glucagon Insulin- lowers blood sugar Glucagon- raises blood sugars These are crucial to maintain a balanced blood sugar level. This is crucial to many organs such as the liver, kidneys, and brain.

Disease or Abnormalities Associated With Hormones By: Mark Solo There are many Diseases affiliated with the Pancreas that include Acute Pancreatitis, Chronic Pancreatitis, Hereditary Pancreatitis, and Pancreatic Cancer The Pancreas plays a job in Diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the pancreas can no longer make insulin because the immune system attacking them. In type 2 Diabetes, the pancreas can’t produce enough insulin to keep up with the daily meals. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disorder in which a thick, sticky mucus can block tubes in the pancreas.
