Media Information and Technology Skills Visual literacy is the ability to interpret, negotiate, and make meaning from information presented in the form of an image, extending the meaning of literacy, which commonly signifies interpretation of a written or printed text.

Media Information and Technology Skills Information Literacy is defined as the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand.

Media Information and Technology Skills Media Literacy is the ability to critically analyze the messages that inform, entertain and sell to us every day. It’s the ability to bring critical thinking skills to bear on all forms of media asking pertinent questions about what’s there and not. It’s the ability to question what lies behind media productions.

Media Information and Technology Skills Scientific literacy is the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity.

Media Information and Technology Skills Economic literacy—the ability to use basic economic concepts to make decisions about earning, saving, spending, and sharing money—is a skill. As with reading and writing, a working knowledge of basic economic concepts is essential for future success.

Media Information and Technology Skills Technology literacy is the ability of an individual, working independently and with others, to responsibly, appropriately and effectively use technology tools to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, create and communicate information.

What is the 21st Century Learning like? Student-Centered Learning: This is not an ala carte approach, these must all be together. Learning is personalized Learning is competency based Learning happens anytime, anywhere. Students take ownership.
