The consequence of the novel was that new laws were created on how food is processed in America - The Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906

Fast Food Nation A book on the modern meatpacking plant by Eric Schlosser. The author used undercover investigations, interviews and toured the meatpacking plants in America to collect the information for the book. The purpose of the book was to draw attention to the working conditions in the plants and the chemical flavoring of fast food. As a consequence of this book Americans began to think about how their fast food is produced.
