DEAC District of Innovation November 16, 2016 HB 1842 passed in the 84th Texas Legislative Session provides TX schools with an opportunity for public schools to modify state requirements at the local level to better meet the needs of their unique student populations. Under HB 1842, districts may identify certain requirements imposed by TEC that inhibit the goals of the innovation plan and from which the district should be exempted on adoption of the plan DEAC District of Innovation

Day after Board Meeting: 11/18/16 AHISD Timeline AHISD Board of Trustees pass resolution to submit District of Innovation Plan. Board Meeting: 10/20/16 AHISD Board conducts a public hearing to consider developing an innovation plan. AHISD District Education Advisory Committee holds a public meeting to consider and approve the final version with a majority vote. DEAC Meeting: 11/16/16 AHISD Board Adoption of Innoviation Plan. Board Meeting: 11/17/16 AHISD notifies the Commissioner of intent to adopt plan. Day after Board Meeting: 11/18/16 District of Innovation Plan posted on district website: http://www.ahisd.net. November-December AHISD Board of Trustees vote to adopt innovation plan. Board Meeting: 12/15/16
