Using Immersive Technology to Introduce Planetary Geology to Undergraduate Maritime Studies Students As part of its scientist engagement efforts, the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) provides access to LPI’s digital, portable planetarium Supported by LPI Education and Public Engagement (E/PE) staff, scientists can use this immersive technology to share their research, and NASA SMD science and exploration in general, with the public On March 28, 2018, Dr. Michael Evans of the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Sciences Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC), along with LPI E/PE staff, set-up the planetarium at the Texas A&M University Galveston campus Approximately 150 students from across campus visited the planetarium Students were given a tour of the solar system including the Earth-Moon system, Mars, the Saturn system and Pluto Andy Shaner, Lunar and Planetary Institute, shaner@lpi.usra.edu Dr. Michael Evans, NASA JSC michael.e.evans@nasa.gov
