Investors in Pupils Award Target Setting; why and how we set our Targets

Our Values Consideration Communication Collaboration Celebration We treat everybody as we would wish to be treated Communication We listen, explain and check understanding Collaboration We help people to work together effectively Celebration We build confidence by recognising contributions and efforts Commitment We keep trying until we have given our absolute best

Target setting Why is target setting important? Target setting gives us goals to aim towards Targets give us a focus and allow us to review our progress Targets allow us to see what we have done well and celebrate our achievements

SMART targets What is a SMART target? S = Specific. Targets must be specific to you, your aims and your current levels of progress M = Measurable. Targets must have clear measures; if you cant clearly measure your target, how do you know when it is achieved? A = Achievable. Targets must be achievable. You should be able to see a way that you can meet your target R = Realistic. Targets must be realistic. You should set high expectations, but ones which you are confident of achieving T = Timely. Targets must have a time frame, without this, you will struggle to find the urgency to work towards it!

Form targets You will all now have set your own personal targets in form time on your Investors in Pupils display and set targets based on your monitoring. Our aim is now that every form group has its own target each half-term. This should be discussed and agreed in form time, reviewed each half-term and then updated for the following half-term

Form targets continued…. Ideas for your form target???? What would you like your form to aim towards? You could have targets for; increasing achievement points, improving your forms attendance, increasing participation in extra curricular activities; it is completely up to you!! Each form should have a target which will be in place for the next half-term
