4-H Basics The 4-H Symbol A green 4 leaf clover with a white “H” on each of its leaves. The 4-Hs   HEAD HEART HANDS HEALTH MOTTO “To Make the Best Better” SLOGAN “Learn by Doing” PLEDGE I pledge my head to clearer thinking, My heart to greater loyalty, My hands to larger service, And my health to better living, For my club, my community, my country and my world. COLORS Green and White Green represents springtime White represents innocence

What is 4-H? FUN! Leadership Science Public Speaking Talent Show Camp Making Friends Trying New Things Agriculture Citizenship Learn By Doing!

How do I join? There is something for everyone! Just by being here! Community clubs Special interest, project clubs Teen Club (when you’re older) Adult Council (when you’re old ) There is something for everyone!

Pledge Leader Memorize the pledges Recite both pledges at the beginning of each meeting This person is good at memorizing lots of words and is comfortable in front of the class.

American Pledge I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible for liberty and justice for all.

4-H Pledge I pledge my head to clearer thinking heart to greater loyalty hands to larger service health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world.

Historian Using a digital camera, the Historian is responsible taking pictures of each meeting. They will take pictures of competition winners and officers. This person should enjoy taking pictures!

Treasurer They are responsible for collecting money all year to give to the charity the club chooses. This person needs to be good at counting money and responsible!

Secretary Read the minutes or notes from the last meeting Write down what happens at every meeting. Write down the first and last names of the people selected to move on in competition This person should be good at taking notes and a great listener.

Vice President In case the President is absent, the Vice President will run the meeting. The VP will announce when our next meeting is and what we are doing during a meeting.

President Lead the meeting with the script provided Help the other officers Help your teacher Announce the contestants before they compete Assist your class when they vote on anything This person is a great leader and someone you look up to.

Nominating and Voting If you want to run for an office stand when that office is announced. Everyone will put their head down and close their eyes. Everyone gets one vote. Once your vote is cast you may not vote again. You may vote for yourself.
