Presentation transcript:

Daily Science 01-06-12 Weight and mass are not the same thing. Weight is the gravitational force on an object. Mass is how much matter is in an object. The Calculator’s weight will be affected when it is moved from the Earth to the Moon but the mass will not. WHY? Partner A explain the why weight is affected. Partner B explain why mass is not affected.

Gravity Take one minute to write down anything you know about gravity.

Gravity is a force that exists between any two objects that have a _________________. Gravity is always attractive and ________________ objects toward each other. A gravitational attraction exist between you and every object in the universe that has a __________________. WEIRD? However, the force of gravity depends on the _________________ of the object and the ___________________ between them.

Effects on Gravity Mass of the object gets larger Mass of the object gets smaller Distance between objects gets larger Distance between objects gets smaller
