Cellular Respiration 4 tab Foldable Ch. 6

Foldable Set up Instructions: Fold paper so you have 4 tabs, about an inch each (2 sheets of paper) Label each tab Cell Respiration: Chemical Formula Overview of the Cell Respiration Process 3 Stages of CR: Glycolysis, Citric Acid Cycle (Krebs Cycle), Oxidative Phosphorylation (Electron Transport Chain) How is Cell Respiration related to Photosynthesis

Chemical Formula 3 Stages of Cellular Respiration Cellular Respiration: How Cells Harvest Energy Chemical Formula Overview of the Cell Respiration Process 3 Stages of Cellular Respiration How is Cell Respiration related to Photosynthesis

Chemical Formula:Top tab set up Title at the top : “Cellular Respiration: How Cells Harvest Energy” Center of page: Draw diagrams from textbook Fig. 6.3 p.91 Overall Summary Equations

Overview of the Cell Respiration Process (2nd tab) Center of page: Draw diagram Upper tab: Describe the main steps of the cellular respiration process Fig. 6.6 p.93

3 Stages of Cellular Respiration: set up (3rd tab) 1) Divide Page into 3 columns Stage 1: Glycolysis Stage 2: Citric Acid Cycle (Krebs Cycle) Stage 3: Oxidative Phosphorylation (E- transport chain) Breaks down glucose into 2 pyruvates. Uses 2 ATP’s to get the reaction going, but releases 4 ATP’s in the end products (net 2 ATP’s) Pyruvate changes to Acetyl CoA (with help of enzyme) before entering the Citric Acid Cycle . Acetyl CoA enters Citric acid cycle and a series of chemical reactions occur. Each turn of the cycle releases CO2, ATP, and NADH and FADH2. (electron carriers that carry energy into next stage!) NADH and FADH2 (from Citric Acid Cycle) enters Electron Transport Chain (ETC) and causes a release of electrons. O2 enters mitochondria from respiration and reacts with energy from electrons. Forms H2O and more ATP. 1 Glucose 2 pyruvates 1 Acetyl CoA 1 Acetyl CoA 2 ATP + CO2 + FADH2 + NADH O2 + FADH2 + NADH H2O and 34 ATP

How is Cell Respiration related to Photosynthesis set up (4th tab) Title: Photosynthesis and cellular respiration provide energy for life Center of page: Draw diagram Top tab- Describe in your own words how Cellular Respiration is related to photosynthesis. Fig. 6.1 p.90

Back of Foldable set up Fig. 6.13A p.101 Fig. 6.13B p.101 Title at the top “Anaerobic Process: Fermentation” Center of page: Draw diagrams Lower page: Describe each type of fermentation, in your own words. Fig. 6.13A p.101 Fig. 6.13B p.101

Foldable Due: Weds, 11/14! Worth 50 points! All diagrams must be colored and labeled. All descriptions must be written in your own words. Make sure your name and class period is written on the back of your foldable!
