About Me! I have lived in AZ since I was 4! I am a Kyrene Kid Make sure you grab a syllabus and remind code sheet! I have lived in AZ since I was 4! I am a Kyrene Kid I went to Lagos, Milenio and Akimel I lived in Ahwatukee but recently moved to Tempe! I am not married and have no children. I have one fur baby. I have loved reading for as long as I can remember! I struggled with writing, but with the help of some amazing teachers, I became a much stronger writer. This is why I want to teach! This is my first year teaching! Second year in Kyrene. Graduated from ASU in May 2017. Student taught and interned at CMS .

Teaching Philosophy I strive to create a safe and welcoming learning environment that embraces all learning styles. I want a love of reading to be enhanced or created. I am convinced that there is a book out there for everyone. If you disagree, you just haven’t found your book yet! 

Remind I will be using Remind this year. This application will help me keep better contact with home. I will send out reminders for tests and due dates as well as any announcements! There is handout with each class’ code by the syllabi!

7th Grade Reading Official Course Description: Continued development of Standard English reading/listening/speaking skills with a focus on the following categories throughout the academic year. Reading Process: Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension Comprehending Literary Texts: Elements, Historical and Cultural Aspects of Literature Comprehending Informational Texts: Expository, Functional, and Persuasive

7th Grade Reading Texts Some texts will be in consumable book that will be torn out and put in the students’ binders that will go home with the students. Supplemental novels will be read mostly at home with discussions taking place in class. Each unit will have an essential question that will guide us through our learning. Students will be completing writing assignments that align with the myPerspectives in their writing course.

7th Grade Reading myPerspectives Unit 5: Facing Adversity Quarter 1: myPerspectives Unit 5: Facing Adversity Essential Question: How do we overcome obstacles? A Long Walk to Water Quarter 2: myPerspectives Unit 2: Space Essential Question: Should we make home in space? Required Materials 1/2 inch 3 Ring binder for consumable myPerspectives Spiral notebook or loose leaf paper Computer access (Visiting the Media Center/lunch study hall/learning lab) Students will be doing 10 minutes of silent reading and will need a silent reading book

6th Grade Writing Official Course Description: Continued development of Standard English writing//listening/speaking skills with a focus on the following categories throughout the academic year. Writing Process: Prewriting, Drafting, Revising, Editing, and Proofreading Writing Elements: Six Traits, Grammar Writing Applications: Various Genres (Expressive/Creative, Literary Response, Research, Persuasive and Expository Essay)

6th Grade Writing The writing that will be done in this writing course will align with the myPerspectives that the students will be completing in their reading course. Each unit will have an essential question that will guide our learning through the unit. Similarly, each unit will have built in vocabulary that will be studied. The writing process (pre-writing, outline, drafting, revising, editing and proofreading) will be utilized and refined with each unit. All units are subject to change. Each day, when students walk into class, they will have a daily quick write prompt that they will be responding to in their notebooks to begin the class period with brain juices flowing.
