Improving Plants Through Biotechnology Agrobacterium transfers the trait into the DNA of the plant cells. Transformed plant with the new stable trait incorporated into the genome of each plant cell. Plant cells that are successfully transformed are able to regenerate a new plant on selective material. Agrobacterium marker gene-gene of interest GENE OF INTEREST PROMTER Agrobacterium or direct gene transfer: insertion of a gene in the genome of the plant. DNA transfer is common among bacteria. It also exist in nature with Agrobacterium: Nicotiana species are “naturally”containing a piece of foreign DNA corresponding to hormone expressing gene from Agrobacterium Plasmid Gene: DNA transcripton m-RNA - Translation Protein -
