Pluto and other dwarf planets Seif Photo of Pluto

History of Pluto Clyde Tombaugh found it in Feb 30, 1930 in the Lowell Observatory Flagstaff in Arizona. It got its name from a Roman god named Pluto.

History of Eris and Ceres Ceres was discovered by Giuseppe Piazzi, and Eris was discovered by Michael E. Brown, Chad Trujillo, and David L. Rabinowitz.

Solar System Pluto is the fourth to last planet, and the planet Eris is the last. Ceres is the first dwarf planet from the Sun and is part of the asteroid belt. Pluto is one of the planets past the Kuiper belt. Ceres is in the asteroid belt and the only dwarf planet in the inner region. Even though it’s the smallest dwarf planet, it’s the largest thing in the asteroid belt.

Moons Pluto has 5 moons, Eris has one moon and Ceres has none. Pluto has the moons named Charon, Hydra, Nix, Kerberos, Styx, Eris has one named Dysnomia, and Ceres has none.

Planet appearance All the dwarf planets have a rocky surfaces with craters. Pluto`s atmosphere is affected by its temperature. Eris does not have a atmosphere. Water vapor has been located on Ceres, making it have a icy surface, and a atmosphere. This is a picture of distant Eris.

Exploration The NASA spacecraft passed by Jupiter in 2007, and in July of 2015, will pass by Pluto, before going to explore Eris and other stuff father in the Kuiper Belt.

Interesting Facts Pluto ranges between temperatures of -223 Celsius. { -387 to -369 Fahrenheit.} Pluto is 1/6 the size of Earth. That’s really small! Pluto is only 2,302 kilometers in Diameter! One day on Pluto is 6.4 Earth days, also, 153.3 hours. One year on Pluto is 248 Earth years.
