Achilles

About Achilles…

Greek son of Thetis the nymph and Peleus(mortal) which makes him a demigod

King of Myrmidons and a Greek soldier

Achilles was dipped in the river Styx by his mother Thetis when he was an infant to make him immortal. However, she held him by his ankle and so his weakness is his heel, hence Achilles heel

Did you know? To keep him safe from war, Thetis dressed Achilles as a girl to live amongst Lychomedes’ daughters, which lends him his emotional side which is seen at the end of book one

“Swift footed Achilles” “You are a great warrior, Godlike Achilles” -Agamemnon “Swift footed Achilles” “You are not only doomed to an early death but also a miserable life” -Thetis “Your black blood will soon be flowing down my spear” -Achilles “So I shall go back home to Phthia. That is the best thing I can do-to sail home with my beaked ships.” -Achilles
