Interest Grabber What’s in a Name? Section 20-3 What’s in a Name? Pyrrophyta and Chrysophyta are two common phyla of protists. Notice that these names begin with the prefixes pyrro- and chryso-, which are derived from Latin words. The root, -phyta, is also derived from a Latin word.
