OVERVIEW OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS

Where we’ve been… Where we’re going… Co2 that is taken in by the plant come into the chloroplast. With the ATP and NADPH that was made during the light reactions, glucose is made in a reaction called the calvin cycle. (calvin cycle discovered by calvin-benson-bassham) Where we’re going…

Calvin Cycle Occurs in the stroma Uses ATP and NADPH to convert CO2 to carbohydrates 2 spins around this cycle makes 1 molecule of glucose!

PHOTOSYNTHESIS OCCURS IN TWO PARTS LIGHT REACTIONS: Make energy in the form of ATP and NADPH CALVIN CYCLE: Uses the ATP and NADPH to make carbohydrates 1. Light absorption (by plant pigments) 2. Electron transport chain (making NADPH) 3. Chemiosmosis (making ATP) 4. Calvin Cycle (making carbohydrates)
